While working for Rain Publishing, I was hired by several clients of our sister company, Fourthdoor Creative, to write marketing materials. This ranged from press releases to brochure copy (below) and tag line/slogan generation. For links to press releases, just ask! I’ve been featured on MedDeviceOnline.com and Business Wire.

Articles for South Tampa Magazine

Articles for South Tampa Magazine

From February 2008 to September 2009, I was the senior writer for South Tampa Magazine (in print). While there, I pitched all of my own article ideas and was involved in every step of the publishing process, from photo shoots to graphic design and final proofing (AP Style).

A human interest piece about a brilliant cartoonist and sculptor named David O’Keefe who let me hang out with him for a day in his studio.
My first-ever food article, on a Tampa institution called the Colonnade. I most enjoyed sitting down with the staff for our Q&A.
This feature was for our holiday issue, and I fell in love with this military family. We ended up raising money to create care packages for local families.
I got to spend the day touring Stowers Elementary School and interviewing the man behind the name.
Probably my most embarrassing piece to date, my editor had me meet with a local matchmaker to see if there was hope for me and my 26-year-old broken heart.

Food Writing for City Weekend

Food Writing for City Weekend

I spent two years freelancing for City Weekend magazine (online and in print) as a food writer and restaurant reviewer. I eventually became the go-to person to frequent hole-in-the wall Chinese restaurants, as I moonlighted for a local street food tour company.

Owned by Ringier, unfortunately the site went offline when they sold the company at the end of 2017. Below are some of the screenshots I saved from the website, and some PDFs from the print magazine. Just click on the images to read.
